• I have a fresh install of WordPress 2.9.2 running the P2 theme at gravepost.com. I’ve started getting it set up, and like the potential the theme has, but there’s one major problem. Every 15 seconds, WordPress (or P2) duplicates all the posts on the site, refreshing them. After being gone from the page for a few minutes, I can click back to its tab and see multiple copies of the same “Test” post. This also happened with the original “Hello, World” post, which has since been deleted.

I have no plug-ins running, and I’m using the latest versions of both P2 and WordPress. Is there a solution in sight?

  • I’ve been using P2 for a while. I just did a fresh install and I’m right now seeing the same issue as you describe.

    1. Fresh install, no plugins or modifications other than basic admin level settings.
    2. Constant ajax notification: “1 new update(s).”
Duplicates of “hello world” post pile up on the screen.

I’ve never had this happen before.

I think people have realized that on those automatic posts on blog creation it will only work if you’re blog’s time is set to the same as your server’s time? I’ve just disabled those new blog “hello world” updates as I’m using wpmu.

Wow thanks! That had to be what is was. On my other installs I hadn’t set the time.

    Thank you.

Still, it shouldn’t duplicate posts, as the update should be finding an empty post.

While I don’t have this problem, I did find that when I hit Reply, my previous post’s content was still in the box. This is probably a symptom of why WP is duplicating the posts when it does an update, but I can’t go any farther than that. Finding a way to clear the post box is on my todo list, but that won’t be for weeks ??

I have found that if I use the plugin Simple sticky posts and tag a post to be sticky it ends up double posting… Not sure if that helps but it may be a plugin

@caleb45 I think I was wrong about the server time setting above. I asked my hosts what my server’t time was set to. GMT -6 so I set my blogs and new blog defaults to that (multiple blog setup) and I would still get the duplicates of “hello world”. It seems the default first post would be posted at a UTC-0 time and paid no attention to my install settings or my server’ time. For what it’s worth.

Nope, setting WP time to the server time is not the issue. I did a fresh install with the latest version of P2 and I have NO plugins installed and each post is getting duplicated. The older version never did this! Anyone know how to fix this? It’s driving me insane.

Does this problem occur on other themes beside P2?
I use other themes for my blog.
In the first, i get same problem, but i realize the problem is caused by the plug-ins (sorry i’m not fresh install)
I never set my clock too, i leave it as it was.

    What older version you say?
