    Hi David

Is it possible within MLA to set an option that will overwrite a media file if uploading a file with the same name?

My use-case is that I am building a WooCommerce store [as you know ?? ] which has a different image set as the product image for each product. Often I will release a new “improved” version of an image, which I need to replace in the product.

What I need to be able to do, is upload the new version which will have the same filename and for this to replace the existing image with that name.

This way, all products will still link to the correct image and I don’t have to relink the product image – when uploading 10 to 20 new images this will be a massive time saver

Is this possible – or do you know of a working plugin that does this?

    Thanks

    Phil

  • There’s one that is called, I think, Enable Media Replace that I use on https://dancinglight.photos

MLA is a real powerhouse, but it won’t touch things outside its own domain. Of course, with WP, it’s often hard to tell where to look to accomplish something.

Thanks, @wesm, for your comments and kind words.

As wesm wrote, Enable Media Replace is a good candidate for your application. Here is an earlier MLA topic along similar lines:

Bulk update, do not crash ID-numbers

I am marking this topic resolved, as it is addressed in the earlier topic, but please update it if you have problems or further questions regarding the solutions proposed there.
