• I’m brand spanking new at all of this, and getting my site started is becoming pretty overwhelming.

What I’m trying to do is find a theme, preferably a free one. But the sheer magnitude of themes for all different kinds of websites is incredibly intimidating.

My site is going to consist of book reviews, which will be quite lengthy. I imagine it to be pretty blog-like, but with plenty of obvious ways to get around to different reviews. Searching “wordpress themes” is making my brain exposed. I find tons of different ones for way more complex websites than mine. Can anyone point me in the direction of simple blog themes, but a bit more polished and a few more options than the preinstalled ones? Preferably one that doesn’t take a wizard to customize the colors and such? Because I really don’t think I need a crazy magazine theme or anything, but I’d like something that looks nice.

    Thanks in advance.

  • It’s definitely intimidating to look at all the different themes that are out there. The themes I’ve used have pretty basic GUI interfaces for setting color preferences, column width and things like that. You don’t need to be a hard core coder.

I’d suggest choosing one basic theme just to get started. Once you’re up and running, you can go back and shop around for alternative themes. Good luck.
