    Hey there,

I recently discovered that on my business listings website, whenever a person submits a review of the business, the business receives the person’s email address when they’re notified of the review/comment, which I definitely don’t want to allow.

And when I configured a ‘Listing – New Comment’ notification (a listing is a custom post type), in hopes that it would override the default notification, I was disappointed to see it was then sending two notifications – the one that I configured and the original one that still reveals the reviewer’s email address.

Can you provide some insight on this?

I’ve tinkered around with creating a function that uses the ‘comment_notification_text’ and ‘comment_moderation_text’ filters, and even though I can filter out the email from the text of the notification, I haven’t found a filter that would enable me to also remove the reviewer’s email address from the ‘reply-to’ field.

Also, as this issue is specific to that custom post type, if I were to activate a default theme, the custom post type wouldn’t be there any more, so I’m not quite sure how to go about that.

I welcome your thoughts, if you have any on the subject.

    Hi @advantagen,
    Thanks for your message.

It sounds like the theme or plugin you’re using that adds the notification for Listing – New Comment has a higher priority than that of BNFW, so it being sent in addition to the one in BNFW. Do you know which plugin or theme you’re using that adds this notification?

One thing to check is whether you have Comment notifications set to disabled on your site, as per the ‘New Comment’ section of this document: https://betternotificationsforwp.com/documentation/notifications/types-of-notification/
