• Hello!

    I am using this to customize a menu. There are a lot of things to change, but the most important thing is to show a link to a certain user, and I have customized the role to include manage_options.

    I keep getting this message when trying to access tte plugin, in that role, via the direct URL: (I have changed the real URL below). I have checked and double checked, there is no other link anywhere. The only thibng I can think of is that the plugin specifically requires the user to be an admin. Is that something that would trigger this type of message?

    Thanks for any help!

    Current URL: "https://site.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=plugin"
    The current menu item is "Plugin", menu template ID: "options-general.php>a-plugin"

    Figuring out what capability the user will need to access this item...
    -----
    Required capability: manage_options. User HAS this capability.
    No "extra capability" set.
    Final capability setting: manage_options
    ===============================================================================
    + Override: There is a hidden menu item with the same URL (options-general.php?page=plugin) but a higher priority. Setting the capability to "do_not_allow".
    ===============================================================================
    The current user does not have the "do_not_allow" capability.
    DENY access.

    It is possible that a restriction like “user must be an admin” could trigger that type of a message – it depends on how exactly that restriction is implemented. However, even it that case it would only happen if there is another menu item with the same URL.

    Did you create this menu item yourself, or was it a pre-existing item? If you can’t find any duplicates in the menu, maybe you could view the page source (as a user who can see the menu) and try searching it for the URL or a part of the URL.
