Overnight 800 duplicate Traffic Inspector Log entries

Overnight 800 duplicate entries have appeared in Traffic Inspector Log. Duplicated entry is an entry from my URL and consists of:

https://theeaglesaerie.homeoftheeagle.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php

The first entry took place on 5/23/20@18:28. it was followed by one other entry:
https://theeaglesaerie.homeoftheeagle.com/OPFUSCATED/?interim-login=1&wp_lang=en_US
Also originating from my URL.

After that 2nd entry the first repeated, approximately 800 times, until it was interrupted by my logging in on 5/24/20@16:07 Hrs.

During that period there were several attacks by other URLs. The duplication continued past these attacks as well as past my first (failed) attempt to log in at 16:06 Hrs.

This is the 2nd time this has happened in the past month. The last time exceeded 8,000 duplicated entries.

The only unusual activity was a full site backup, by updraft plus, but that was almost two hours prior to the duplications starting.

I have exported the Traffic Inspector log to an excel file if that might be of assistance.
