Overloading Server

  • I have Wordfence (free) version installed on 35 websites all on the same server. When automatic scans start running it is really overloading the server. Is there any way I can get these scans to run at different times? Premium version I don’t believe is an option because of how many sites there are, the cost would be ridiculous. What can I do to reduce the load on my server other than just turning off automatic scans?

    we have recently added an option to use “Low resource scanning”. It’s available on the Wordfence options page. Perhaps you could try that.

    A more effective way would be to run all the 35 sites in a multi site install. You would only have to update plugins and themes in one WordPress installation, you would only need to scan once to scan all the sites and you would also only need one Wordfence key and not 35. Just an idea!
