Overlay main photo only (not image gallery)

In recent versions of Woocommerce (3.x) there are gallery thumbnails under the main photo on the single product page. These gallery thumbnails (class=”gallery-icon”) also are overlaid with the “sold out” image. Does anyone know a way to apply the overlay only to the main image (woocommerce-product-gallery__image) ?
