    Hi onelifeseveralstories,

Thanks for reporting this problem and adding the screenshot.

It looks like this ad unit is an AdSense Auto ad, and AdSense cannot identify the available space. I am used to this issue with responsive ads, but not with Auto Ads.

I recommend creating and placing an Adsense ad unit there manually. You can find a manual for this here.

I would start with a responsive format, and if the same issue appears, I would switch to a fixed-size ad. In addition, I would edit the Auto ads settings and disable this position for Auto ads to avoid embedding two ads at the same spot.

I am curious if this will resolve your issue.

    Best regards,
    Joachim

Thank you for your quick response.
All my ads are responsive format.
I have a doubt that even if I disable that position in auto as it will still over lap in other places.. i think i will have to go with fixed size ads.

Is there any information on the diffident ad sizes so that i could copy the dimensions from there?

    Hi,

I rechecked your website and can confirm that the manually injected responsive ad units have the same issue on desktop and mobile.

The width of your content area seems to be 688px on desktop and 324px on mobile. So I guess that also the standard 728×90 leaderboards will be too big.

Typical ad sizes with a high inventory are, e.g., 336×280 for the desktop and 300×250 and 320×100 for the mobile users. Here, you can find a list of AdSense ad sizes.

You can use visitor conditions to target different ads to different devices.

    Best regards,
    Joachim

I just realized that i didn’t need to manually insert an add.
Because what i had created these ads from advanced ads directly by choosing adsense ads and then making an add and then the placement.
(Sorry I don’t know what term they are referred to as)

So these kind of ads are fitting perfectly within my column and don’t overlap.
So i will stick to these just probably increase the number of the ads shown on the page and disable auto ads completely.

    What do you think?

    Hi,

Yes, you can do that as described. But I recommend creating new ad units in AdSense and importing them to Advanced Ads as you did. This way, you will have statistics for each ad unit, and you can analyze, e.g., which format performs best on your website.

Disabling Auto ads sounds good. I would run the manually inserted ads for a while and compare the revenues in AdSense between Auto Ads and manually injected ads later.

Also, you could enable Auto ads in addition but deactivate the most formats to show, e.g., only anchor and vignette ads via Auto ads.

    Best regards,
    Joachim

I have a question for you

When i do not create ads manually infact directly in advanced ads when i create an ad showing adsense ad and selecting a placement..what is that called?

Because now i am keeping those ads on and also created a few manual ads by selecting the code and then within adsense pasting the code and selecting placement. This i know is called manual.

Also i followed your advice on auto ads and enabled anchor for now.

I created manual ads one i have placed in the side bar (square format) and one within the post.

Both are not showing up and its been quiet some time since i have created it. I remember creating manual ads a long time back and waited for 2 days and nothing showed up. What would i be doing wrong?

    Hi onelifeseveralstories,

“When i do not create ads manually infact directly in advanced ads when i create an ad showing adsense ad and selecting a placement..what is that called?”

This is the manual injection of AdSense ads. Theoretically, you can have only 1 ad block in AdSense and create several ad units in Advanced Ads, when you import the ad code and adjust it in your settings.

However, I would always recommend creating new ad blocks in AdSense to keep the reports straightforward.

“Both are not showing up and its been quiet some time since i have created it. I remember creating manual ads a long time back and waited for 2 days and nothing showed up. What would i be doing wrong?”

It looks like AdSense just needed some time. I can see the manually injected AdSense units now on your website.

    Best regards,
    Joachim
