• (I’m new at this stuff)

I want to remake my company’s website. Right now it’s a horrible flash site, so I want to make a new one using www.remarpro.com.

What I want to do is build the new site, but keep the old one live while I work on the new one. I’m new, so it will take me a while.

How do I work on a wordpress site, without overriding the old flash site files?

  • You have a couple options here…

    1) Install WordPress into a subdirectory of your main site. For example: https://www.mysite.com/wordpress

Then, when you are ready.. see the Moving WordPress guide.

    2) You can use a program like XAMPP to create the site locally on your computer.

Then, when you are ready.. see the Moving WordPress guide.

You can install WordPress in a sub-directory of your server and once website is complete you can transfer it to root directory of site.

Thanks Josh. That first link doesn’t work, but I’ll try that XAMPP.

The first link is just an example to show you how your website url would look when you add the wordpress subdirectory. It’s not meant to actually link to anything ??

You would go to your current website… and add a subdirectory folder named wordpress. Then, you would install WordPress into this newly created subdirectory.
