Overcounting?

I suspect that the counter is inaccurate. My wordpress stats will show several hundred visitors to a post, but the Live Counter will show that several thousand visitors have come. I’ve doube-checked the WordPress stats for several posts dating back a week or so, but their stats haven’t increased to help explain Live Counter’s stats. I’ll admit I kind of enjoy seeing that stat grow but want to make sure it’s accurate.
