• I currently use the free WF on 3 websites and it is very helpful in terms of scanning, comparing files, notifying of needed plugin updates, blocking large IP address ranges as well as individual IPs, and showing you the live traffic on your site.

I recommend using it in coordination with the Simple History plugin so that you can actually see who has attempted brute force logins in the past week, and then use WF block those evil IP addresses. This is because WF’s login traffic only shows successful logins, and doesn’t go back in history very far.

I also found that other security plugins have valuable features that supplement WordFence, and so I use them too: BulletProof Security and Sucuri (free plugin).
