• Haven’t been motivated to fix the blog for quite a while. Yahoo to Verizon transfer, wrong websites being linked to and lack of Yahoo/Verizon helping because my site was created on something that they don’t support anymore. I did get help through WordPress before, but when that didn’t pan out, I lost interest in the whole process. I called Verizon and they said they couldn’t help but you(WordPress) might.

What is the error you see when you try to log in?

can’t even get to my web hosting dashboard. login.luminate.com’s server IP address could not be found.

Ok, that’s not something we can help with, it’s up to your hosting provider’s support to assist you with properly attaching the domain name to your server.

WordPress exists on the server, so the domain needs to be pointing there first.

Think of it this way, a plumber can help with a leaking faucet, but they can’t help if you’re locked out of your home.

Free was good while I could get it I guess.
Thanks for your help, I appreciate your knowledge.

Do you still own the domain name?

What did your hosting provider’s support say, specifically, when you asked them about this?

Good and bad news, the good is that all it turned out to be was my vpn, I just needed to change my password and shut off my vpn to do so. It is a brand new blog under the same name ‘blog’. I got an agent that knew about the vpn, other agents would drop the call or flat out say they couldn’t do it. Yes I still have the domain, in fact I’m thinking on setting up the blog to as close to what I had as possible. I don’t think I’ll be able to get my old subscribers back. I believe I have my api number somewhere.

WordPress doesn’t have a subscription system or API numbers, so I’m not sure what you’re referring to about that.

Sorry, I submitted before typing part 2.

Continuing from there … Were you keeping your own backups of the site?

    Thread Starter brainjured

    (@brainjured)

yes that is only part of the entries and yes I made backups. I had a plugin that did backups and I think I also had the domain doing backups too.

    akismet needed the api

    (@macmanx)

Ok, check the documentation for that backup plugin, it will walk you through a restore.

As for Akismet, you can reach their support at https://akismet.com/contact/

    alright, thanks.
    Stand by…

I sent akismet a request and next I’ll be checking out the email I had it sent to originally.

I need the plumber to help with the leak.(waka, waka) I thought it would be easy once I had access to my website manager, but I forgot everything about the blog. I need to get the backup, either the one you posted before or we need to find the plugin that I had before.

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

I can’t help with identifying what plugin you were using for the backups. We have no more access than any normal visitor.
