Outstanding.

  • Of the search plugins I’ve tested today, this is the most impressive by far. It has more editable controls than the other search plugins, all organised extremely clearly. A non-techie can easily create a great search feature. There’s also plenty for those with technical know-how to tweak and optimise if required.

    One negative is that the search box layout controls don’t work correctly at the moment in my GeneratePress theme: Changing the top/bottom padding does nothing, and changing the left/right padding pushes the search box beyond its container. But I feel optimistic that this developer will correct this in time, as Ajax Search Lite is otherwise a classy number.

    A nice-to-have would also be to make the ‘Search here…’ font and font-size selectable, to match a site’s theme.

    Oops, my bad. It’s container margin, not search box padding. So it does work, sorry.

    Still it would be nice to be able to edit the appearance of the search box itself. I was able to achieve this in CSS instead, so all OK.
