    hello,

I have another plugin that gives some data in my posts with a shortcode. The output of the shortcode appear on the webpage when viewed online. But when Revive tries to send the post to social media, it is reporting the post is empty. For some reason the output of the shortcode, which is all the content inside the post, is not getting downloaded by the Revive plugin. But when I view the post, the shortcode output is right there. But for the Revive plugin the post is totally empty.

How can I fix it please?

Thank you for your help, this is a great plugin!

Hi there, the plugin tries to strip out shortcodes from the content it finds to avoid shortcodes going out to social media.

If you’re using a shortcode to generate content that only gets displayed on render…then ROP would not be able to get that data because ROP reads the data from the post content in the database. Not on render of the post. So unfortunately ROP would not work in this case. You’d have to use another share content option such as Post Title or custom field.

You can also use excerpts with the help of this plugin: https://docs.revive.social/article/974-how-to-use-excerpt-field-for-shares-in-revive-old-posts

    Hi Uriahs,

Thank you for the reply, that explains why it didnt work. What you suggest is to use the short code as a custom field? I didnt quite understand how the excerpts can help, should I put the short code in the excerpts somewhere in teh post?

Thank you for your help to make it understand, your plugin is great and would love to continue to use it somehow!

Hi again, no what i mean is adding excerpts to your posts, and having ROP share post excerpts, but that would mean for posts that don’t have excerpts…ROP would fall back to the content…which you said is a shortcode.

If you want to make use of custom fields, then here’s a doc for that: https://docs.revive.social/article/480-how-to-use-custom-fields-content-url-hashtags-in-revive-old-post

In that doc it focuses on creating your own…but if you already have a custom field present with content then you can use it as the share content.

Alternatively, you can switch to sharing the Post Title instead of the Post Content.
