I’m just checking in on this. My site is hosted by Bluehost on a shared server. I am getting a message on site health saying ‘Outdated SQL server’ When I contacted Bluehost, they said they could not update this because the site is on a shared server. (Basically meaning everyone’s site is using an outdated SQL?) It seems rather odd that they are just allowing this and they said there is nothing they can do to edit it. Is this correct and do I have any options in this situation? Thanks.

The message says that your hoster is using a database service for which there are officially no more updates. This does not have any immediate consequences for you. Your website can also run with this outdated database server, provided it is not too old for WordPress (which would be unusual with this host).

You could also ask your host to move your website to another hosting area where more up-to-date software is in use.

Of course, you always have the option of switching hosters if this statement seems a little too unsafe for you.

Ok, thank you for the clarification.
