    Your article here says that outbound links should be dofollow, but I always understood that Google punishes your website rankings if you include dofollow links. Has that changed?

    Thanks for reaching out regarding your outbound links. Yes! When you add a link to your text or click on an existing link, you have the option to set it as nofollow. However, we recommend that you have followed links. Followed means that search engines can follow these links, add value to the article, and perhaps rank it higher. Nofollowed links don’t let search engines follow them through to the other website. That way, they don’t contribute or add value.

    Okay, reading up on this, I guess I misunderstood. It’s only paid ads and links that Google says should be nofollowed, since that want your links to be “earned” and organic.
