Outbound link event on tel:

  • I like to track the event when a visitor clicks the ‘Call now’ button.
    I already enable “track downloads, mailto, telephone and outbound links” under Events Tracking.
    In another post I read something about adding onclick=”ga(‘send’, ‘[eventCategory], [eventAction], [eventLabel], [eventValue] );”

    But I’m not sure if this is necessary to add extra code? And how do I do this? Is there tutorial about that?

  • That piece of code simply adds a value to the event of someone clicking a ‘tel-link’. That post you are referring to is for people who are not using or do not know about Google Analytics Dashboard for WP (GADWP). Smart guys like yourself who are already using Google Analytics Dashboard for WP (GADWP) and have enabled “track downloads, mailto, telephone and outbound links” under the Tracking Code/Events Tracking sub category do not need to do this. It would be kind of redundant…plus all the coding/editing you would have to do…Short answer is No. No extra code needed
