Outbid Notifications Not Being Sent

    There are some “outbid” notifications not being sent to previous bidders on an item. It is odd that some are being sent while others are not.

    Outgoing mail is going through a Gmail account so I can see all the messages that are being sent from the site. Here is one scenario…

    Bidder A places a bid
    Bidder B outbids Bidder A – No outbid notification sent to Bidder A
    Bidder A outbids Bidder B – Bidder B receives an outbid notification
    Bidder B outbids Bidder A – No outbid notification sent to Bidder A

    This has happened a couple times that I am aware of.

    Hi,

    Plugin uses built in WP mail to send out all emails. If the email account is available via hosting, it should happen momentarily.

    In your example, did you check all folders (like spam). There can be some delay here and then which I think happens due to email hosting.

    I’m not sure what was happening. Most mail gets sent right away, others don’t. Bidder A did receive some outbid notifications on other items. She checked her junk folder but there was nothing there. The auction is almost over so we won’t have much opportunity for testing.

    I tried couple of times myself and emails worked for me. I still remember that sometimes emails didnt happen but the reason was due to email accounts. The plugin calls WP mail each time.

    I have the mail routing through a gmail account so I can see what is being sent. Most messages are being sent but there are a few instances where I can see that no message is sent – especially with the outbid notices. I can see the bid acknowledgement to the bidder and an outbid notice should go out but there is none. Then I see her bid notification and an outbid notice did come to me. Then I bid but no outbid notice went to her.
