I’ve been running this site since 2009 annd keeping it updated. I add 2-3 posts a day.

I left it working just fine last night. Without doing anything to it — I MADE NO CHANGES — it now loads to a blank page no matter what the url. I can not load the admin page.My hosting company only knows how to blame me.

They want me to get rid of my theme but I cant do that. Years of work and formatting down the drain if I do. I will cry.

Also, how can my index.php change to load a blank page if I dont change ANYTHING? This would happen automatically?

    Please help. I’m desperate.

My host did something and now I get:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting ‘,’ or ‘;’ in /home/65/15/2931565/web/wp-includes/theme.php on line 93

Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the root wp-config.php & .htaccess files and the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Esmi – thanks for the response. Can I do that behind a public school firewall? I failed to get into my FTP.

Will doing so eliminate all customizations I made over several years? I’m so worried!

I’m very novice for someone who has been doing this a long time, but I know enough to know that I didn’t do anything overtly to cause the error. How do I prevent it in the future? Too much is riding on this site…

    Thanks

Hostways FTP plugin won’t install in firefox at work. I’m limited. Anyone know of one I can d/l to an ancient school iMac from a site that likely won’t be blocked? ??

I’m sorry but we have no idea what you can or can’t do from behind your firewall.

All it will do is provide you with a fresh set of original WordPress core files – which you should never edit.
