We run a fulfillment company and build shopping carts for our clients to own. Though we are updating our home page with a WordPress designed site.

My question is, if we install the WordPress site on our server and have it take over GarmentDeli.com… will that effect sites such as https://www.garmentdeli.com/lovestruckgeekytees

We need to be 100% sure that it will NOT effect the other sub-level sites deployed.

it would only have an issue if you created a category, post or page that used permalinks that produced that exact URL pattern.

if the site at that URL is built in html or using some other app then it’s completely separate from wordpress and shouldn’t be a problem. however, before you do anything BACK UP EVERYTHING! ??

also, if you have the time download and install a local server on your own computer and try to recreate the same situation to see what will happen. there are packages you can use for windows or mac: xampp (windows) mamp (mac).

This issue is predicated upon the WordPress site choosing “pretty permalinks”
    Minor correction:

it would only have an issue if you created a category, post or page that used permalinks that produced that exact URL pattern.

If you were to create a WordPress category / post / page that happened to mimic the path of one of your other websites, then in this case the other website wins, you would see a link OUT of the WordPress site to the other site. The lookup of web pages gives preference to real pages rather than indexed content.

So the bottom line as I see it is that there is negligible risk to your other sites being impacted. Still the advice to make backups is always a good idea.
