Other similar to 2010 Theme or Updated 2010?

Your Twenty Ten theme will become responsive when read by a mobile device such as a smartphone if you activate JetPack’s “Mobile Theme” module.

Based on the few devices I tested it with, it seems to be working fine for my site. I’m sticking with this solution until I find a better and more thorough alternative.

I like Twenty Ten for the same reasons you mention, and it is still listed as popular theme, when searching for themes through admin console. So it is not ready to die.

However, according to the articles below, Twenty Sixteen might share some of the characteristics that made some of us choose Twenty Ten in the first place:
