@orenstransitpage – You will have to enable custom styles from the Network Plugins page, then you will be able to use custom styles for your Multisite sub-sites.

Have a look under My Sites > Network Admin –> Gallery at the options checked there. Here is a screen snippet of the defaults: https://take.ms/Bc5vg

    Thanks!

Thanks. I was able to get those options, but the CSS I’ve selected doesn’t seem to be the one loading. Instead, it loads a minified version of a CSS that doesn’t appear to be the one I’ve selected to use. Might something else be at play now?

@orenstransitpage – In some cases you may need to add the !important directive to your CSS properties to have them used instead of the default (minified) values.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

I have also just updated wordpress and the plugin to the latest versions and my ‘Other options’ pages is blank. I can see the wordpress framework but the content in the middle grey area is completely missing.
All other tabs for the gallery work fine.
I tired uninstalling, deleting and reinstalling but no luck.
It has also effected the latest images uploaded and not resized them to the size I specified.

So I added the !important directive, I cleared out all the custom CSS files that I had uploaded, and I’m still getting the minified version of the site (and can’t select the updated CSS file that I want from the drop down in the network settings. Is there a way to just disable minification in this plugin outright? Or is something else still wrong? TIA!

@orenstransitpage – If you are using multiple custom stylesheets with NextGEN Gallery where are you saving them at? They should be located under ../wp-content/ngg-styles/ and contain similar template document blocks as the default stylesheet.

    Thanks!

    Cais,

They are located in /wp-content/ngg-styles/, they were there prior to launching multisite when everything went haywire. I can post the exact URL of the CSS I want to be using later if that would be helfpui (I’m in the office at the moment whereas my website files are on the computer at home).

Cais, the URL of the CSS I’m trying to use is orenstransitpage.com/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/ngg_styles/nggallery333.css

I attempted to see if W3 Total Cache had remnants on my server and .htaccess tonight, but it seems those are all gone. My next step is likely trying to overwrite the css.min files with the attributes I want, but that seems like it would only be a temporary solution at best.

@orenstransitpage – Are you seeing the style sheets available under the Network Admin > Plugins > Gallery options in its drop-down?

In very rare cases, you may need to remove NextGEN Gallery from the Multisite (if it was installed under a single site environment then the site was changed to a Multisite). Then re-install and reactivate NextGEN Gallery network wide.

    Thanks!

    Cais,

Thank you for all your help with this!

The style sheets are showing up in the drop down, as seen here.

    <img src=https://orenstransitpage.com/screenshot.png>

I did install NextGen Gallery on a single site environment and the problems cropped up after I changed it over to multisite. I did some searching for instructions on how to uninstall and reinstall NGG without losing my data (not the photos themselves also but the galleries, albums, captions, etc.). I have over 7000 photos in the galleries on my site, so if an uninstall results in complete data loss I have quite a mess on my hands.

I’m holding off on the update of NGG that came out today until this is resolved, unless you think that upgrading the plugin will solve my problems somehow.

    Thanks again!

PS the uninstall/reinstall instructions I found were over 2 years old, though I did find these instructions, too: https://www.imagely.com/docs/how-to-rollback-a-version/. If following those instructions is what I need to do, I’ll give that a try. If it is a different process, tell me about that and I’ll follow those instructions instead. TIA!

@orenstransitpage – Uninstalling and re-installing NextGEN Gallery will not affect any of your images, galleries, albums, etc. in a standard installation but I still believe that the issue might be in changing the installation from a single site to a multisite installation.

We also always recommend keeping all active plugins, your current theme, and WordPress itself up-to-date at all times.

In this case, you may want to uninstall NextGEN Gallery and then re-install the current NextGEN Gallery and activate across the entire Network. Then in each sub-site you may need to use the Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options.

    Thanks!

And doing so will not impact my database, albums, etc? All the data will reappear upon reinstallation? (Yes, I will backup everything first.)

What does the “reset options” button do exactly? It isn’t one I’ve ever had to press.

Thank you for all your help with this. I did the uninstall/reinstall as you suggested and things seem to be working properly now.
