OSWD to WordPress

Hi,

I have spent much of the afternoon reading through the WP Codex for theming advice and I am completely and utterly lost.

I have been trying to convert the theme I use @ url.gb.vg into a WP Theme and to be honest I don’t even know where to begin. I have used upwards of 30 different combinations of splitting the “index” file up and hacking the css and nothing has worked.

I would be grateful for any pointers that anyone has at all.

I am not too bothered at this stage if I could get the links down the side to operate in an ajax manner like the majority of the site, though it would be nice, my primary concern is to have the blog displayed within that theme, I can worry about the ajax stuff later.

I chose WP because I thought it would be easy to skin after using b2evo before but the methods used by WP are completely alien to me.
