Anyone out there got experience adapting a theme from OS TEMPLATES to the WordPress environment?

    Is this doable?

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

  • I don’t see any WP themes on that site. If there are any, they are not released under the GPL which is not in keeping with WP policy and philosophy — they won’t be supported or welcome here.

Thanks – after thinking about it and then digesting your article, I realized that I do not need the the top to bottom code for a given OS TEMPLATES theme, but rather, I would just like to grab the coin-slider code from any of their home page templates.

So – I assume there’s no problem integrating an app or function from another site’s free theme, right? But if so, what are the hazards of doing so?

    Thanks.

adapting a theme from OS TEMPLATES to the WordPress environment?

OS Templates provide a wide variety of html/css templates/layouts. The licensing on the templates should be examined before spending any time attempting to port them to WordPress or any other platform. That being said, it is doable. It does however, require a skill level that may be well above the average user. You can research services that do that sort of thing, or perhaps seek out someone with experience for consultation and advice. https://jobs.wordpress.net/

[edit] that article references (and attempts to statistically analyze) the proliferation of corrupted WordPress themes, and the potential pitfalls of downloading them from untrusted sources.

Thanks much Clayton for the very thorough answer.

We do not supply any ported CMS or Blogging platform themes / templates on our site.

I think personaly that your words refering to “not welcome here” are somewhat harsh. We have a wide variety of users who have ported our templates to WordPress for their private use or for their clients.

We have also used and still use WordPress for some of our clients sites.

I suggest you go to the original developers site to download the code and view their tutorials and examples. That way you get the most up-to-date files, examples and tutorials.

Cheers for the interest, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly on our website.
