original images aren't imported

I imported my blog from blogspot and all looked good until I saw that the original images weren’t imported. All imported images are just the thumbnails. The blog posts in WordPress contain links that still point to the original images on blogspot!
Is there an option for the import to throw away the thumbnails and import the large image versions instead? otherwise, the whole thing is useless for me as most of my blog posts consist of image collections.
