Ordering on cost center

    Hi,

    I’ve got a new site that I’m going to build for one of my clients.
    My client is a food company, which is going to take care of the lunch for a big company.

    The food company already has a public woocommerce webshop in which everyone can order food. But now a specific webshop or addition to the current webshop has to be implemented for this specific company.

    Within this big company two types of customers are possible:
    – Employees ordering privately. They should see special prices instead of the prices in the general public webshop. These employees should be able to only pay directly via the gateway iDeal.
    – Beside this, departments are able to order lunch for the departments and pay later on invoice. To do so, they have to order based on cost center.

    I’ve got some questions on this setup:
    – How would you manage all employees being able to register online so they get the special prices visible? It is more than >5000 employees, and of course new employees are entering as well. So I thought of making registration possible with a specific ….@bigcompany address only? Is this possible?
    – Which plugin or plugins would you suggest to make cost center based ordering possible. I’ve been looking around but didn’t find any specific plugin yet. But probably I’m not searching on the right terminology?
    – Am I able to make the invoices such that orders of a month are bundled on this cost center number. So my client can send an invoice per cost center per month? Or a total invoice with the costs per cost center specified?

    A lot of questions, but I hope you guys can help me out and get a bit more in the right direction ??

  • Hi @neallos, good questions! Let’s break this down.

    I think you would want to use WooCommerce Memberships in conjunction with Teams for WooCommerce Memberships. Essentially, this would allow an account manager to add new addresses. I don’t know of a way to automatically have it so that email addresses with a certain domain are accepted and emails without that domain are not, but there might be a third party plugin out there that could make this process smoother.

    Memberships is an option for the discounts for employees as well.

    For restricting certain payment methods to certain types of customers, you’d want to use Conditional Shipping and Payments. You’d have a membership for employees and a membership for departments, and then you could set the discounts and payment methods accordingly.

    Alternatively, Wholesale for WooCommerce is another plugin you could look into. This would combine some of the functionality of Memberships and Conditional Payments, I believe, although this is developed and supported by one of our developer partners, so it would be best to fill out a presales form here to ask about the exact functionality with that plugin.
