Ordering and sorting of Galleries

    Having just voted on feature requests, and seen the results, I’m very disappointed in the lack of votes for sortable, newest first etc options for galleries. I can only think that most sites have a limited number of photos.
    Our running club site receives pictures from contributors to most posts, so the number of photos grows and grows. With no hierarchical structure of folders, and an oldest first method of managing galleries, we are going to be in trouble down the line. It’s already annoying after only a few months up and running, compared to our old Dreamweaver HTML site.
    So although it’s not a popular feature request, I would say it’s quite an important one for image rich sites! It seems to me a fairly basic sort of requirement that surely can’t be hard to implement.

    @digbymaass – You can click on the Galleries column header to change its sort order … does that work for you?

    I’m embarrassed to say I thought I’d tried that, but obviously not… I SWEAR I tried sorting by clicking the column header…
    In the welter of problem solving sometimes the easiest ones are missed!

    The only thing is it doesn’t stick. When you return to the Manage Galleries page it has defaulted to oldest first. Is it not possible for it to stay in the last sorted state?

    @digbymaass – That would be a sensible Feature Request on that item as I can confirm the sort order does not “stick” but is required to be re-sorted each time.

    I would suggest adding that to the Feature Request form (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/feature-voting/) as well, to be honest, your observation of many users not having a very high number of galleries is most likely correct so this is not coming up as a popular request, yet.

    @digbymaass – The voting form uses a cookie to note voters, if you clear that cookie you will be able to vote again.
