Order Status Won’t Change

I’m sorry to hear the order statuses aren’t working after the latest update.

Hmm, I suspect that either the permalinks need to be reset or that a plugin or perhaps your theme are not compatible with the latest WooCommerce version, and might be causing a conflict.

Based on the Access denied error, Can you please go to

Settings > Permalinks

and hit Save, then let me know if that helps?

If not, it will be great if you could share your current System Status Report. You can get it by navigating to the WooCommerce > Status section of your site. Thanks for trying those suggestions.

Can you please let us know if you’re able to change the status of your order when you only have WooCommerce active and a default theme like Storefront? This implies switching the theme and deactivating all other plugins except WooCommerce.

If the above doesn’t help please get back to us with the following:

• Error Log: Share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce > System Status > Logs (if available).
• Console tab: Right-click on the page or press F12 on the keyboard and select “Inspect” (this option will show up on most browsers). In the developer tools that will pop up you should see a “Console” tab. From there, please send us a screenshot of what’s being displayed using a tool like snipboard.io.

Thanks for your suggestions and sorry for the delayed response.

I have tried to deactivate all the plugins and switched to the default theme, and it helped. But I didn’t get which plugins caused the error though, and using this theme is crucial.

It seems we’re close to finding the cause of the issue.

Kindly do the rest of the conflict test, whereby you activate the deactivated plugins and theme, one by one, checking which one causes the issue to come back. For reference, kindly follow this guide – https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/#section-4.
