Order received with order id from 3 years ago

This is a really unique situation!

When everything is old, are you sure that the payment is current and not just refreshed notifications of old payments? I would confirm this first.

The placed orders can not be found in the order history as well and even use an old email template from 3 years ago.

Technically what could have happened is that the phone from where the order was placed had some cache files from the past, and now when they visited the site those old pages were fetched from cache instead of the current pages from the server.

If the orders cannot be found in the order history, may be you could ask the customer to place the order anew. They would need to clear their browser cache first. It is explained in this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache

If you could share the site URL then we may be able to check further. Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

Yes, this really is a unique situation unfortunately…

We thought of a caching issue as well, but this makes no sense, since this was not a returning customer, but a completely new one. Also, this happened with 3 orders yesterday, which could not be a coincidence. A second customer that was called clearly stated, that he had visited the website on 2 different devices, and both showed different prices. He of course ordered on the latter. ??

Can you provide a link to the product that is inside that order with the issue? So that we can take a look.

Can you please share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce > System Status > Logs (if any)?

To make sure if something is affecting the site please run these actions below:

• Clear the site cache, here there is an article as a reference
• Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
• Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
• Place a test order

If you see the issue is not present at this point, it means a conflict was affecting the site, and you can then reactivate the theme, and plugins gradually one by one and check again after each reactivation until the cause of the issue is found You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

yes, unfortunately we can not cancel the order and even couldn’t since it does not show up under orders anways.

the product that got ordered with wrong prices is the following:

Also, we are already using store front as our theme, and only some customers orderer with the wrong prices. We had received orders on the same day with the correct prices.

We are not using storefront but the superstore theme by woocommerce. But as we mentioned, the website shows up fine for the majority of the customers. Deactivating plugins would not benefit us, since we have no acces to the devices that our customers used for ordering.

Hi there,

When you mention wrong prices the problem can most often be traced back to conflicts or caching.

Testing for conflicts is not ideal on a live site so we recommend doing it on a staging site. This way you can monitor the situation and see if it happens again.

You may also want to make sure all your software is up to date and have a look at the plugin’s latest update date. If it’s been a long time since the last update date, it’s best to temporarily disable the plugin and keep monitoring.

I don’t see caching plugins in your system status but your server may have caching enabled by default. Get in contact with your host to disable any active server-side caching.
