Hello – I have a new WordPress site where I have Woo Commerce Shipping profiles set up to ship within the US, and to US Territories, and then separate shipping profiles for Canada, and Australia/New Zealand, with flat rates set for those countries. I purposely did not set up a shipping profile for “Rest of the World”, yet, an order for Germany was placed today, using the shipping prices for Canada, which does not cover shipping costs to Germany.

Germany has some shipping restrictions that we didn’t want to deal with, which is why we chose NOT to offer shipping to Germany. So, how did an order that is shipping to Germany get placed under the Canada shipping profile?

I just looked again, and the word “everywhere” is showing under the Canadian shipping profile. Shouldn’t this mean “everywhere in Canada?” Is this a fluke that it meant everywhere in the world? Seems like if we choose Canada (which is a country on its own), that wouldn’t mean it’s ok to ship to Germany as well?

    Thanks for any info.

The easiest way to fix this is by going into your settings and changing the Selling Locations and Shipping Locations to the appropriate Countries and Territories.

    Hello photomj,

Thank you for contacting WooCommerce support.

I understand you are facing an issue caused by a shipping profile issue. From what you’ve described, it does seem puzzling that an order from Germany was able to go through under the Canadian shipping profile, especially since you had not set up a profile for “Rest of the World.”

I’ve investigated this by attempting to place an order using a German address, and it indeed did not go through as expected. Here is a screenshot of the expected behavior on our end:?https://prnt.sc/2Cq1KZviRSgp.

In order to assist you further, could you please provide details about the order in question? This would help us to identify and understand how the order was able to use the Canadian shipping rates. When sending the order details, please ensure that you hide or cover any sensitive customer information for privacy and security reasons.

Once you provide this information, we will be in a better position to look into the issue. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated, and we’re committed to helping you resolve this situation.

Looking forward to your response. ??

@serafinnyc – Doesn’t shipping profiles override this section anyway? That’s where you set specific shipping prices for specific countries.

@doublezed2 – I will attach 2 screenshots here to explain what I said above.

I had Canada chosen as a Shipping Zone, but it said “Everywhere” underneath it. I took that to mean “Everywhere in Canada” but I don’t think it did. Here is the original screenshot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iXFYoShmVSh-wVrng4lCIpwpe-u1klL2/view?usp=sharing

I changed that area to read “Canada” under the Canada shipping profile and you must have tried to place an order after that. Or, your order didn’t go thru because it looks like an address in France?

I don’t think sending a copy of the order is going to solve anything because it was placed to an address in Germany, which Woo Commerce accepted, even though Germany wasn’t an option to ship to.

    Hello @photomj,

    You are correct.

Shipping profiles do indeed override the general settings. When you set specific shipping rates for specific countries in your shipping profiles, those rates will apply instead of the default ones in the general settings.

This allows you to have more precise control over your shipping costs.

    Cheers!

@ckadenge – That isn’t the issue here…please read this post in its entirety.

    Thank you for your reply.

I think you have understood correctly. The Zone Name is just a label that can be anything to identify the Zone you are creating. The actual region must be defined in the Zone Regions.

So in your case, the Zone Name “Canada” was just a label and not a region. The actual region was set to Everywhere making it a global zone.
Here is a screenshot from my test site for better understanding: https://prnt.sc/Qguy4pePbRvK

So if you have set the Zone Region to “Canada” that is the correct way to do it.

Please let me know if you have any questions, I will be happy to help ??
    Have a great day!
