Order posts by RANDOM, how to do it?

    HI,

    Actually we can order posts by most viewed, most comments, etc but a very userful order criteria would be greatly welcome: Order by RAND()

    Can someone help on how to do this from code?

    Thank would be a nice feature for next update since it gives the site a more fresh and dynamic feeling.

    Hey there!

    Some time ago someone sent this pull request to implement this feature in the plugin, but I rejected it since I feel it really doesn’t fit the nature of WPP (which is to list the top popular posts).

    While the code is no longer in sync with the repo, you may be able to use it to learn what to do and where to look to make the necessary changes for it to work.

    How about random within top 50, top 100…top this week, top this month…

    I’m looking forward to this function for a long time. I think other wpp users will also welcome this feature.

    While what you said might be true and I see its value, my position remains the same:

    I feel it really doesn’t fit the nature of WPP (which is to list the top popular posts).

    What you two want is a random posts widget, which there are plenty of them out there already.

    Previous: Random WPP not Random Post.
    ——Random (1,2,3…)/WPP.
    A smaller area shows it, and it always recommends popular article, especially mobile browsing.

    But that’s OK. It’s only a suggestion. I’ve always been a loyal user of wpp.
