    Hi,

    I have a few questions about the order numbers.

    Are they unique? Or are they recurring?

    Do they always consist of a hashtag and 4 numbers? If not, what’s the shortest and longest order number possible?

    I need this information because I want to ask my customers for their order numbers in a contact form. And I want to describe what their order number looks like and what it consists of so they know what to look for.

    Hey there!

    WooCommerce order numbers are unique. WooCommerce uses WordPress post IDs for order numbers, so the order numbers can start low (in the single digits) and go as high as needed. They do not always have 4 numbers, and the # sign is not required.

    In your case I’d recommend placing a test order, and using that test order to take screenshots from the customer side to explain what information you are looking for.

    Yes, that is correct. In terms of data storage, WooCommerce stores the order as a number, without the # sign. theme usually will add a # sign, but not always. So the # sign is not required in terms of WooCommerce data

    Sorry for the confusion here! I was not asking to see any screenshots, I was suggesting that you could take some screenshots to show your customers exactly what you are looking for, and provide those to your customers. I find screenshots sometimes explain it better than words do as arrows can be added to show exactly where to look.
