Order Free Sample Option?

  • Is there a way to incorporate adding to cart a free sample of a product? Not just an quick “enquire about this product” as some customers would like to order multiple samples and “checkout” at the end in one go.

    I know it could be done by adding another identical product but pricing it at $0.00 – however that adds product redundancy and ideally that’s avoided.

    Any help will be very appreciated ??

    Just an update what I’ve done so far is

    – Added an “Order Type” attribute, with the terms “Product” and “Free Sample”
    – Changed Product Type to Variable Product
    – Added the the variations in Variation tab, giving a price of 0 for the free sample

    This though still leaves the option of ordering more than one sample. Although when the order is being processed the admin will only send one, the customer might think they can select to order more than once – not sure how to limit quantity per variation?

    Still not sure how well this will work with more complex orders/dynamic pricing.
