Order emails aren’t sent after update to 7.0.1

    This morning I’ve updated Mollie from 6.7.0 to 7.0.1 and the client just asked me why email notifications aren’t sent after placing an order. The orders before the update went fine, after the update not anymore. So I rolled back to 6.7.0. This means I don’t have the opportunity to investigate more disabling plugins etc.

    There were no errors in the PHP error log.

    Hi @josklever,

    The order emails are sent properly in all of our testings, so it would be good to check if this is the result of a plugin conflict.

    Version 7 is a major code refactor and we can’t rule out that plugins like Cartflows may require an update to fully work with the latest update. When in doubt, it would be good to check if all works as expected on a separate staging site and eventually perform a conflict test there by disabling other plugins to see if the behavior persists.

    I believe he is right. But it’s an issue with a PDF invoice plugin.
    This one: Invoices for WooCommerce

    This is not the first time Mollie and Invoices for WooCommerce conflict.

    I’m having the same problem! The workaround (for now):

    Option #1:
    Disable ‘Invoices for WooCommerce’ plugn

    Option #2:
    Downgrade Mollie plugin to 6.7.0 or lower

    @avz, @fedeltamedia That plugin is not in use on this site, as you can see in the status report, so please create your own tickets.

    @josklever did you try to disable the PDF extension that is in use on your site?

    Because it seems to have to do something with PDF plugins in general. In that case, our reports are relevant

    @fedeltamedia No (as you can read in my topic), but that plugins is up-to-date and widely used, so it would have caused many more support topics. And I’m not sure why you think it’s related to generating PDF, because it’s related to sending emails. Wild guesses don’t help.

    @josklever I see you didn’t add any debug logs. If you had checked the error log, you’d see that the problem occurs when trying to add an attachment to the email. So our order emails weren’t send out, exactly the same problem as you are facing.

    So try to disable the PDF extension (which you still didn’t do) and check again ?? Or… this time, DO check WordPress’s debug logs.

    @josklever so you checked the WP debug log? And you disabled your PDF extension? Or are you simply “wild guessing” now?

    @fedeltamedia As you could have read, I HAVE checked the error log, but there were no errors regarding this issue. And I’ve also said that I couldn’t test disabling plugins, because I’ve done the rollback already. And I don’t use the same plugin you mention. So this is a DIFFERENT issue.

    The PHP error log or the WordPress debug log? The latter you need to enable yourself.

    It doesn’t matter which plugin you use for PDFs. As you can see in the stack trace (so no wild guessing here Jos), the problem relates to adding attachments to order confirmation emails. So ANY plugin adding those attachments could be the cause. And since you’ve listed you use ‘WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips’, it’s probably related.

    Btw, nothing holds you back to re-install the latest Mollie version. And test again with the PDF extension disabled. Or perhaps then check the WordPress debug log (again, not to be confused with the PHP error log).

    You will see for yourself, this issue is related because it traces back to the same Mollie plugin functionality

    @josklever is correct, please create a separate thread for your issue as it is not exactly the same one. It may be similar or even related to a certain degree, but as you can see from the attached system report, the mentioned plugin is not installed on the site in question.

    In your case, the PDF generation causes an error, which prevents the mail from being sent. That’s not exactly what happens in this case.

    We appreciate your desire to provide assistance but also kindly ask to not mix up different issues in a single thread.
    Ideally, every user should create a separate thread so it can get the proper attention.

    Hi @josklever,

    I can’t put a finger on it yet, but the issue you reported (and the other ones that have been reported for that matter) will be addressed in the next 7.0.3 update later this week.
    There have been several different issues that all could, in the end, result in similar behavior (no PDF invoice and/or no email). But while the result was a similar one, the actual cause for the behavior has been a different one for most of the conflicting plugin interactions.

    The feedback we received helped us swiftly isolate and plan a solution to have it resolved before the end of the week. I’ll provide another update when a fix is in place. Again, thanks for your reports.

    Thanks for the update. I’ve kept an eye on the support forum these days and notices that there are more issues to be solved, so I’ve rolled back to 6.7.0 on all (43) sites and will wait for the next update(s), after which we’ll start testing again.
