Order Attribution is a way attribute orders to traffic sources, providing an understanding of the effectiveness of various marketing efforts. I requires specific data to be passed through in a way that WooCommerce, or a particular extension or plugin, can record. Read more about Order Attribution Tracking in our documentation including the settings that should be enabled for it to work.

If the data wasn’t passed through, or recorded to start with, disabling plugins or otherwise conflict testing might not bring that data back. But let’s see how to fix this for orders going forward.

To get to the bottom of why your orders may not be attributing their sources, let’s start by having a look at your System Status Report. Click here for instructions on how to find and copy it, then paste the result in your next reply.

Can you also look back at the last order that did get attributed to a source? What was that source, and have you since had any other orders, that you know of, from that same source?

Is there a specific reason for this? It’s preventing me from checking for any potential JavaScript errors. Could you please disable this action temporarily?

Could you open the plugin page and share a screenshot of the redirections you have set up?
This would be helpful for my investigation.

Lastly, could you deactivate Wordfence Security while we troubleshoot?

Hi @alpha31, your staging site’s System Status Report shows Speed Optimizer: by SiteGround – 7.6.8 is active, as is the Demani Child Theme.

Can you kindly disable Speed Optimizer and switch to a default theme like Storefront Theme or TwentyTwentyFour, and let us know if the issue persists?

Can you also confirm if this issue happens with a normal checkout, or if it happens with instant pay buttons such as GooglePay or ApplePay? I found this existing issue that’s being worked on, and want to rule your issue out or confirm if it’s related.

We reverted to standard Woo checkout (without DIVI builder) and the reporting of origin came back.

We will do further testing and report our findings afterwards.

Also we will contact DIVI support if necessary.

We were unable to understand what the difference was between using the shortcode [woocommerce_checkout] and the DIVI Checkout elements.

We tried placing the shortcode in the DIVI builder and it worked as well.
(Only using the DIVI blocks to build a Checkout page breaks this feature)

What could be causing this?

We want some advice so we can contact DIVI support with more information so we can get this fixed.

Hi @alpha31, I’m glad to hear you’ve identified the cause of the issue even if the issue itself wasn’t resolved.

I’m not a developer myself, but it seems like the attribution data is being lost somewhere between the visitor arriving on your site, and completing the purchase. If it works with the default WooCommerce short code, but not with the Divi theme implementation, then it sounds like that implementation ignores or discards that particular data preventing it from being recorded along with the completion of the order.

If you raise the issue with Divi theme’s support, their developers will know in which direction to head in next. The Order Attribution Tracking documentation will aid this quest.

In light of the above, I’ll go ahead and mark this thread as resolved. If you need help with anything else, please feel free to start another thread.

We contacted DIVI support and they said that this is a KNOWN ISSUE and will be fixed in a future release. (Current version 4.27.2).
