I cannot work out how to do this simply.

I have created a newaccess level. Then I have added a selection of post categories to a Condition Group and saved it. I have then under Options selected Synchronise Roles – Contributer.

I want the “higher” roles of Author, Editor, Administrator also to have access rather than just Contributors.

Do I have to repeat this with a new access level and new conditional group for for each User Role: Author, Editor, Administrator?

Yes, you have to repeat the steps, but you do not have to add conditions to the new levels (unless you want to restrict some content specifically for those).

Simply add a new level (Author Level), sync it with Author role and select Parent: newaccess level (the one you created for contributors).

This means that Authors will now inherit the level of Contributors.

Repeat the step so that you will get:
Administrator inherits Edtior inherits Author inherits Contributor.

When you add conditions/restrictions for e.g. the Editor Level, then only editors and administrators will be granted access.

Let me know if this solves your problem.
