I installed Yoast SEO on a site and get a strange problem.
The menu shows up, but a lot of options will not work. Options: page=wpseo_titles, page=wpseo_social, page=wpseo_xml, page=wpseo_advanced, page=wpseo_tools all result in a “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” message.

    • I uninstalled and deleted the plugin also in db
    • I deactivated all other plugins
    • I googled for 2 hours

    None of the above helped…
The website is build on the Genesis framework.

Any ideas as to the cause and solution?

  • Similar problem for me. The items you’ve listed are not even visible in the menu and can’t be accessed.

Actually they are visible as links in the top menubar, but not in the left admin bar on the site were I have the problem.

Is the ‘Advanced settings pages’ option set to disabled? If so, enable it to access those hidden pages.

Note: This was caused by a new feature we rolled out and the issue of links leading to the permission error has now been reported. If you would like to follow the progress of the report, you can do that here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/5733

As you can see in the original question, page=wpseo_advanced is one of the pages that generates the “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” so its not possible to enable anything there ??

I reverted back to version 3.5 and the problem has gone…

The advanced feature needs to be enabled in the SEO dashboard which is under page=wpseo_dashboard.

Now you have me doubting… Just goes to show that the options have gotten too complicated. Like why a SEO menu in the left bar and also one in the top bar – and If your are right they also have different options ?? An extra option to choose if have just 1 menu or 2 would be in order…

I will try again after a next update, already lost 3+ hours on this matter.

    Thanks for your answers sofar!

Updated again to 3.6 After enabling in left admin menu >> Dashboard >> Features >> Advanced settings pages >> enabled
Now everything is back to normal! ??
