    Hi there-

I was wondering if it is possible to set up optional steps? I’m going to run a screenplay challenge similar to NaNoWriMo, and I would like people to be able to award themselves badges based on how far along in the script they are and then get a final badge for completing their entire screenplay.

The problem is, depending on whether they are doing TV or film, or just due to their personal writing credo, the number of acts can vary anywhere from three to seven.

So, is it possible to have all of those awards be optional? Or do I have to create a separate quest-type badge for each possible number?

    Thanks and best wishes,
    Kristen

Just so I am sure of what you’re asking. You are wanting to see if it’s possible for users to create their own quick badges to help mark how far along they are? Instead of an admin having to go through the trouble to make all sorts of itemized task types that a user could reach?

Oh, that’s an interesting idea! It would be awesome to have them mark every ten pages, or something…

I was initially looking for something like NaNoWriMo, where you could enter the number of pages you’ve written (instead of words), which could then display on you profile, etc., but I figured earning badges for reaching different milestones would be a good alternative.

In regards to my question, what I was thinking was for them to be able to go through the list and mark them off individually and also when they’ve completed their scripts (using auto-approved submissions).

So, it would essentially be having a quest where all of the tasks are listed but have some (or all) of them be optional instead of being required – even if they were just in a list and they have to submit again for the final/overall quest badge. I guess my difficulty is trying to have it organized to show the different, recommended steps for people to take, like you do so nicely with the “required steps” list.

I went through and created separate badges for each one (scripts that follow three-act structures, ones that follow four-act structures, etc. up to seven), but it looks really cluttered on the list page. :/

I’m having some other questions, but I’ll post those in a separate thread.

    Thanks so much!
