Option to remove some elements?

Hi, I’ve just downloaded this theme and at first glance am quite impressed with it. However, there are a couple of things I would like clarified if you could. Firstly, there’s an option to hide the header image. Can you also remove the space it occupies? If not, there’s a huge gap between the menu and the content.

Secondly, is there any way to change the central position of the search button and social buttons? In fact to remove the search button entirely, and have a normal search field? I personally feel that having the search come up in an overlay is attention-breaking. Aside from those two things, I like the theme a lot.
