Option to Exclude Super Stickies

    The current implementation shows Super Stickies regardless of user permissions. This not only reveals the existence of a private forum to users without the appropriate group, but they can also read the topic. Ideally, a Super Sticky within a forum would only be visible to those who have the appropriate permissions to view the parent forum. Bear in mind that this is when using the “Recent” as opposed to “Category” view.

    As an example, we have a number of hidden forums for discussing protocol, making specific notes about users, etc. Sometimes we need to Super Sticky something so that all those within the staff group will always see it at the very top, without our users seeing these discussions.

    At the very least, it would be nice to have an option to exclude these. I’ve already made changes to the plugin as a stop-gap to send members without permissions to 404 on a super sticky, but I really don’t want it to show up at all.

    OK, it looks like Sticky in Recent Mode will act as I expected Super Sticky to. Which is…yeah…unexpected. Marking as resolved.

    And…nope. I was wrong. Jumped the gun. This isn’t resolved. Subsequent posting revealed that this is, indeed, still an issue.

    This also appears to be the case in Category view, and was a change made in 1.7

    sorry being thick – what do you mean by ‘recent view/mode’ and ‘category’ view/mode ?

    Forums have settings as categories or forums, not sure where recent comes into forums?

    don’t think this shortcode gives me the ability to filter, so probably can’t fix it.

    If you haven’t already got my style pack plugin, can you install it

    and try the [bsp-display-topic-index ] function (you’ll find a tab in settings called shortcodes that explains options) as that has a filter for private groups. If that works, then I’ll cut a PG version, if it doesn’t then I’ll look at how I might get it to work.
