• I’m trying to figure out how to make a few tweaks when running this theme:

    – Have the option to display the full post or excerpts (and to determine how long the excerpt is, per post) on the main page. The theme creator’s own blog (kopepasah dot com, running “Eighties” modified by child themes) displays posts of varying lengths, including posts in their entirety.

    – Display image format posts in their entirety, by default. (For example, no image is shown for my image format post titled “Eikoh Hosoe.”)

    – Include “Read more” / “Continue” text to indicate there’s more to the post. Currently, the only way to read the entire post is to click the title, and the only visual indication (ellipses) of an excerpt does not consistently appear at the end of every post (e.g. if the first paragraph is very short).

Thanks in advance for any advice!

  • For your first question, my reply in a more recent thread might help–

Reply regarding blog-post summary versus full text

Regarding your second question (although you might have already discovered this by now), you can include a “Read More” link to a custom excerpt you write (when editing the post, check Screen Options–> Excerpt to display the custom-excerpt entry field below the blog post text-entry area) by clicking the Read-More icon near the right in the standard WordPress 4 editor toolbar.
