• Hello the Community!

Thank you for taking part in developing such a great product as WP!

Sorry, if I pose a question which has been already resolved in the previous topics.

We need a kind of a hosting portal system which would allow our users:

    – to create their own blogs under our domain,
    – which would automatically create user.domain.org – like addresses upon registration,
    – with user.domain.org/admin/ – like back-end for administration,
    – with a set of modules and blocks choosable for users,
    – with a set of themes choosable for users.

I find WP to be the best in usability among the rest CMS’s, but is it possible to create such a portal with WP? Thank you!

Yes. Use WordPress 3.0, which is currently in beta release mode. It supports this capability (known as “multi-site”), and it works great.

Previous versions of this were called “WordPress MU”, but as of the 3.0 line, these versions have been combined into the main package. 3.0 is very close to release now.
