    Hi Jeff,

and again a very nice and simple plugin. Do you plan to integrate an option like “secure download”?

Maybe something like a long query string to url – because i will protect some files and at the moment you can very easy parse the possible downloads because it’s just a id in the uri.

Yeah maybe, it’s not something I had planned on. But I understand and will take a closer look at adding in a future update. Thank you for the feedback, @tkwpweb.

Hey @tkwpweb, looking closer at this. What would be the criteria for a user to have access to a “secure download”? If they are logged in? Or are you just wanting to prevent bots from downloading everything by parsing the URL, etc.

    Hi Jeff,

sorry for my late reply. I am currently on holiday.

My idea was more like this:

    https://domain.com/sdc_download/1511/?key=hash_bla_bla

So you need the exact url and not just the id – wich bots can parse.

Ok thanks @tkwpweb, I will see what I can do for the next update.

Just to follow up, this is implemented in the next version of Simple Download Counter (1.4), should be available later today.

Note: if you have added any downloads before version 1.4, you will need to set the hash by visiting the “Edit Download” screen and simply clicking the “Update” button. Let me know if any questions about this.

Thank you for the feedback, @tkwpweb.
