Option Explanations for WordPress Multisite “Upload Handling”

  • I have Googled and cannot seem to find a definition for or explanation of the options for a Network’s Upload Handling setting.

    Does anyone know what each of these represent, which is best to be used, and why?

    > Auto (PHP)
> Direct (WP 3.5+)
> PHP (WP <3.5)
