Hi, Thomas. Thanks for your offer of advice on optimizing our ads.

We have two kinds of scrolling-activated ads on our site. Subscription-oriented ads for our publication appear on main pages, and ad banners for other organizations appear within articles: https://revitalizationnews.com

My main question is whether there’s anything we’re doing that’s hurting our Google search visibility (especially now that Chrome is becoming less ad-friendly), or anything we’re not doing that might improve our ranking.

Thank you, restorm. Chrome ad filtering could be an issue, though I haven’t yet seen an official statement about it being directly connected to search results.

Chrome Ad filtering blocks all ads on pages with an annoying ad experience. PopUps that appear while the user is still engaged in the site fall under this category. Internal ads might be fine and even static image ads hard to block, though. I would definitely get a Search Console account so Google can contact me in case they think that there is a negative experience for users on your site.

In my personal opinion, I don’t think you are overdoing anything so that you should fear a penalty in search results. If you have a source saying otherwise then I would be happy to read it.
