Dear support, The plugin is great but I found some weird behavior when using Firefox ESR version.

    My version is:
Firefox ESR 60.9.0 (I cannot upgrade this version as I need /feed support for my particular projects and this is the latest version that still has it build in)

    What happens:
When I upgrade to the latest version of Yoast SEO it asks me to speedup the site and count the links. It will build the database.
All working great using the latest version of Chrome but when I login using my Firefox version above, I always get a error that I need to try it later again.

Yes, the popup (Modal) does show but when clicking on the button to build the database for Yoast SEO it cannot finish and fails with an error to try later again.

    I have done some debugging:
All database items are correct, they are made on upgrade from version 13.x

    My browser:
I have a clean browser and Firefox does not have any plugins or any extensions. I did turn off WebRTC as I use this browser also for secure logins but other than that the browser is used as a standalone version.

    Location:
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/60.9.0/releasenotes/

It is X86 version, not X64 but I do not think this has anything to do with the process erroring out.

I have add a higher timeout in wp-config of about 300 milliseconds but I also do not think this has any effect as the popup just shows for 2 seconds and exits out with the error to try later again.

This does not happen with Chrome only this Firefox version.

Any idea why this may happen?

    Thanks

We appreciate you for sharing everything with all the relevant screenshots. It is very odd to see the SEO data optimization analysis doesn’t run and show the 403 forbidden error but other browsers can run the relevant analysis just fine.

So, this is something that also becoming very hard to investigate on our end since we are unable to reproduce the issue. So, if you ever consider buying Yoast SEO Premium, please do feel free to share the link of this thread privately so that we definitely investigate the issue further for you and we might even involve our development team if necessary.

Alternatively, if you think it’s a bug (we are mostly sure it’s not as it seems specific to you and Firefox only), you can submit a bug report directly to our development repository so our development team + QA team might look into this further as well.

    @mazedulislamkhan Thanks for the reply.

If you did install this version and not let it update to the latest (Firefox ESR 60.9.0 WILL auto update after install to the latest if you do not turn auto updates off on browser first use)

But yeah as you say it is a older browser and maybe it could be fixed and maybe not. It is not so important that I cannot do my work, no it was just to let you know what is going on using this version and if you could maybe ‘see’ using the screenshots why this 403 is happening.

We were all thinking it had to do with the popup for counting links but this popup is gone so no it has not to do with the popup/modal. How it is now is MUCH better.

My real wish but that is a other topic is have Yoast Integrate with Surfer SEO. That would be the day I would 100% buy Premium as that service is just incredible to use and yeah SEMrush is also very good. But surfer is like magic for your content, test it out : )

Anyway, thanks for all the help, but If you could just answer the following:

Should I really do that, I do not want to boughter your team for this browser. Of course, if you do think it should be looked at and why this browser (no update keep on this version) gives 403, then ok.

But other then that, it was a pleasure to help you and thanks again for Yoast SEO.

IT is the BEST : )

    Have a great day, Jon

@jonhopstra We’d still recommend submitting the bug report. We also use feature requests to help track user interest as well as how widespread a request is to help us evaluate it’s priority, so if there are other users this is affecting it’s helpful in that respect as well.

Also, whereas we understand if you aren’t currently interested in our Premium plugin and the support it provides, we do offer a 30-day refund policy on it so even if it’s something you’d like to try out, it is essentially risk free for the first 30 days.

    @devnihil Thanks.

Do I understand it correctly that this issue in this topic about this browser version, I should add this as new topic into this place:
    https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues

If so, I will do this after the weekend when I am back home.

Also could you tell me where on GitHub I should make a feature request for e.g. Surfer or any other maybe interesting addons for Yoast. I am happy to do that, have a lot of ideas that might make it even better then it already is.

If I know the link were to ask this and add the request I am happy to do it.

The Premium, I will absolutely look into it but for some of my little sites it would be overkill but for my new to build authority site it would be perfect. So yeah, thanks for the information when I am back home I will look into it for sure.

    Have a great weekend.

@jonhopstra If you believe the issue with Firefox is not specific to you, in that event we’d recommend submitting a bug report. If that is the case, yes, you can submit a bug report at: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues

As for submitting a feature request, you can do that from the same URL at https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/new. You can create a new issue to submit your feature request.
