• Hi,

On one of my WP sites, I use a slider on the homepage with the background of each slide set to an image (full screen).

The problem with this is that each image is around 3MBs, and that increases the load time significantly. I have tried every image optimisation plugin, but because the site is on a shared host and functions such as exec() are not enabled, I can’t use any of them. Also another solution I’ve found was the smushit plugin, which doesn’t work if the images are above 1MB.

Are there any other ways that I can optimise my images/reduce their size and therefore increase page loading speed?

    Thanks

  • There’s a plugin that may help called WP Smush. It that can optimize your images for you. It can optimize all the ones in your library now, and automatically optimize any you add.

Thanks, but as I’ve said in the main post already, I’ve tried that as well – however my images are larger than 1MB.
