Opt-In? How?

When you configure the plugin for an opt-in region, such as the European Union (GDPR), the opt-in banner will be activated automatically. Explicit consent would have to be obtained for non-functional cookies to be set.

@jarnovos Thank you. I selected the European Union. But matomo still tracks everything even if the user didn’t click anything on the banner.

Only when the “Cookie Shredder” is enabled it’s working that no cookie is set from the beginning. Is that a requirement?

If you set-up Matomo with Complianz, you can set “Ask consent for Statistics” under Statistics – Configuration in the wizard. If you have not, Complianz will find it automatically.

If I can have a look at your website, I probably find the issue,

I used the matomo plugin for that because I have more settings with that.

It looks like Matomo hasn’t been configured in Complianz at the moment. I see several Matomo scripts on the site: Matomo Analytics, Matomo Tag Manager and WP Piwik.

The easiest configuration would probably be:
– Configure Complianz to load Matomo Tag Manager (https://complianz.io/integrating-matomo-tag-manager/)
– Let Matomo Tag Manager fire Matomo Analytics
– After which you could remove WP Piwik.

@jonalange if you use matomo anonymised, locally hosted, it’s usually not necessary to ask consent for statistics.

If you want to load matomo separately, but blocked, in the wizard, go to

Consent => Statistics, and on the question “do you collect statistics”, answer “yes, but not with any of the above”.

then on the next page, answer you want to ask consent for statistics.

You can then add your local matomo.js url to the script center in complianz => integrations => script center, with category statistics.
