When placing the order, customers are subscribed to the newsletter whether or not they have checked the opt-in checkbox.

In the configuration of the WooCommerce integration on Brevo, the opt-in is however activated.

Any idea what could be the cause?

WordPress, WooCommerce and Brevo for WooCommerce are all up to date.

    Thanks

  • I can confirm this issue too. I notice that when setting the subscribe event to order completed you get that customers are subscribed to the newsletter whether or not they have checked the opt-in checkbox. When you change it to order created customers are not subscribed to the newsletter (just email stored) whether or not they have checked the opt-in checkbox. I guess there is a bug in this somewhere.

    Hello,

    Thanks for contacting us!

Currently, the contacts getting subscribed if they are registered customers, meaning they have created an account.

On the other side, if they purchased a product without creating an account (as Guest customer), they will be imported and blocklisted.

We’re currently reworking the synchronisation method. There may be changes in the future.

I remain at your disposal for any information.

As you can read in your company’s blog https://www.brevo.com/de/blog/dsgvo-konforme-newsletter-anmeldung/ this is against the law in the EU (GDPR).

Google and Facebook have had to pay millions for such misconduct.
We will no longer use the plugin, although I assume that Brevo, in conjunction with the paid subscription, is liable for the misconduct.
